4 Books and K-pop
Dear reader,
I have come across a realization these past couple of weeks. I am writing four books at once, or at least writing stand-alone scenes in four books at once. I knew from the beginning that Lowcountry Lovers was going to be a four-book series. I also knew that each man needed to stand out from the group in his book as well as mesh within the friend group. To do this I have spent a lot of time researching well-written and poorly-written friend groups and spending time figuring out what makes each man so special. In all this research, I have found myself writing scenes that showcase either one man in the group or the group as a whole. I can’t promise that these scenes will make it into the final version of their respective books but I have loved each one and I have found myself falling in love with this group of men. I am so excited for you all to meet them and fall in love with them too.
I have also spent a lot of time watching K-dramas, C-dramas, and J-dramas recently. Back when I was in middle and high school, K-dramas and K-pop had such a hold on my life. I don’t think I watched anything that wasn’t Korean. The worst part is that I still can’t speak Korean, which is honestly rather rude of my brain to have spent so much time listening to the language and I can only say “hello.” That being said, I have been blasting Stray Kids music recently and I am officially obsessed. They are all so talented and it has become a mission of mine to have them on my book’s movie soundtrack (I am putting this out into the world). I was talking to my husband the other night and we (he) figured out why I love these shows so much. He said all the shows I watch have the same story progression: the main characters meet, they begin to care for each other, they start dating/ secret dating, and craziness happens that causes them to break up but eventually they get back together and stay with each other forever. His exact words were “That is pretty much the same formula for all your books, it’s no wonder you like those shows so much.”
So long story short, if novel writing doesn’t pan out, I might be moving to Korea to start writing K-dramas.
Until next time,
Amanda
